Russ Roca is probably best known for his work on the Youtube channel The Path Less Pedaled. During a particularly long and cold winter in Missoula, Montana he taught himself how to paint with watercolors using photographs and even video stills from old Youtube videos as inspiration. Since that winter, he often carries a small sketch book or plein air painting kit with him on bike rides trying to capture the subtle bend in a road, the bright contrasting light of a summers ride or the pink hues of riding at dawn and dusk.

Bicycling is one of the most beautiful activities a person can do. Painting a cycling scene lets me hold on to and appreciate that fleeting moment of beauty a little longer.

Currently, he sells postcards, prints and the occasional original painting. He is also taking commissioned work to create a unique momento for people to remember their favorite rides.
